RULETA RUSA - Aqui No Es + 2 cassette $6

Firstly the cassette comes with two songs not featured on the LP. You can call that a bonus.
RULETA RUSA are outta San Francisco composed with some members of PELIGRO SOCIAL and BORN DEAD. "Aqui No Es" is the band's debut full length album. RULETA RUSA dresses up ESKORBUTO and less dynamic COLERA punk rock styling with MOTORHEAD inspired hardcore/punk, something like INEPSY or SKITKIDS. Vocals are in Spanish, to their benefit. Lots of rad little guitar leads avoiding wankery. RULETA RUSA turned out a strict Spanish punk rock n roll powerhouse.

GENERACION SUICIDA / CATHOLIC SPIT - Split 7"  $6.00

GENERACION SUICIDA continue their brand of punk that feels like it came from a Danish band during the KBD revival circa 2004. I feel like that sounds lame but GENERACION SUICIDA are really really good at it. MASSHYSTERI is thrown around often in conjunction with GENERACION SUICIDA. I feel GORILLA ANGREB fits the bill a bit better but that might just be splitting hairs.

It was immediately apparent that CATHOLIC SPIT's approach is from another land than what I'd just heard. No redundancy is a plus. Can CATHOLIC SPIT firmly plant both feet? Slowly pacing bass and drum underline a dreamy depersonalized guitar. Introductions end rather abruptly and the song picks up at the crack of incredible female voice. It was the same vocals as THE SICK THINGS in my head!!! The aloft guitar drops in some narrowing the gap of lucidity. Post-punk bass lines like AU PAIRS, GANG OF FOUR or DELTA 5 trying to win the hundred meter dash gives the songs a bright feeling. A synth and double guitars on duty produce a result like a complex and layered version of NERVOSAS.
